TDK was founded in 1935 to commercialize ferrite, the world’s first magnetic material, originally invented at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. The company was built on the desire of its founder to create unprecedented value and be of use to the world. Since then, based on our Corporate Motto, “Contribute to culture and industry through creativity,” TDK has worked to respond to constantly changing markets, releasing unique solutions of value to the world.

Today, we are seeing ongoing rapid advances in technologies such as IoT, AI, big data, 5G, and metaverse, as well as the expanding use of renewable energy and the shift to xEVs. In addition, the necessity for efforts to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to realize a sustainable society, are also accelerating.

Quality assurance
The basic philosophy behind quality assurance is “zero defects (zero malfunctions, zero product defects),” on which TDK’s pursuit of product quality is based. This effort to improve quality extends beyond products to include everything from the way TDK works.

Global Partnership Purchasing
TDK engages in global production with production bases in Japan and other Asian countries and territories, Europe, the Americas, and Europe. Within the procurement activities that support production, the development of global procurement structures is crucial, and TDK strives to use those systems to develop products rapidly to remain competitive in the race to be first to market in the electronics industry.
